Giving Thanks

It’s that time of the year, folks. The time of the year, where rather than bemoaning “stuff”, we embrace and appreciate said “stuff” (at least in theory, in practice we still be bemoaning, I’m sure of it). I tend to struggle with gratitude. As a relatively tall and moderately good looking straight white dude with a decent job, a loving family, great friends, and so many pieces of entertainment to entertain myself that I can hardly entertain the thought of ever being bored you’d think I’d project less stress and ooze a more blessed persona, yet I do not. I’m a whiny millennial. I feel entitled to adventure and riches. Good things aren’t good enough, and enough is a 6-letter word that I only use to halt a conversation. So, let us treat my blessings like carry-on luggage you just carried on home and unpack them.

This is my mandatory non-required post of things I’m most grateful for:

As cliché as it is, I am primarily thankful for my friends and family. My mom and dad are awesome and always have my back, my siblings are all unique and range from cowboy hat wearing truck driving “good old boy” to boat shoe wearing liberals that sit on video game boards and make my rinky dink websites look like an arts and craft project hung on the fridge alongside said siblings written thesis on the cure for cancer. Also, my sister got married this year (I can prove it, I bought a suit), and if you count my marriage to the game, that concludes all my mother’s children finding “love”.

Speaking of websites, I’m thankful for TechGameTeddy who spent his limited free time helping me build this website. His tendency towards Linux may make him the vegan of software, but we love him around here.

Thankful for Fried Okra. His girlfriend may wish upon my demise, but he still the homie.

I’m thankful for Nth Review and his server, it’s been a great place to turn to for company and conversation.

Thankful for Baldy and his thought provoking work. To quote Warren Zevon “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”

I’m  thankful for video games.

I’m thankful for Bo Burnum.

I’m thankful for the Cheeze-it Tostada at Taco Bell

I’m thankful for anti-psychotics.

I’m thankful to be alive.
